Creating FrugElegant Party Decor for 2 weddings was fun & we so look forward to doing it again & again but man, o man it’s time for a BABY SHOWER!! We just can’t contain our excitement! Carol is gonna be a grandma for the very first time & we are bursting with love & joy. Think of us doing our happy dance here & now LOL!

Welcome to Megan’s Story Book Baby Shower! Come see all the FrugElegant touches & how it all came together in the most memorable way.
Let’s start with the two beautiful pieces that first welcome the guests. Above, we have our “Be Our Guest” Story Book Wreath hanging on the front door, created out of old books purchased at the local thrift store. For the full DIY post, click here.
Open the door and in the entry way is this beautiful framed chalkboard that says “Welcome to Megan’s Shower”. Draping the sign some fresh cut greenery from the yard gives it an extra special touch. If you don’t have a large framed chalkboard, you can hang a smaller one or used a chalkboard stand. And if you don’t have access to some fresh greenery, faux would work great too!
Because there are so many details to share with you, we are going to try to group the pictures together. From the table settings to the sweets table & all the extra special touches throughout, come see how it all came together in our FrugElegant Style.
The fresh cut greenery is also hung under each umbrella.
Our gorgeous place settings are by Chinet. The Chinet® Cut Crystal® line includes plates, cutlery, cups & now they also have stemless wine glasses. All with such an elegant design that coordinates with just about any party theme & decor.
A story book quote, a crown and a “book worm” stamped bag of yummy gummy worms were created for each place setting. (stay tuned for an upcoming post on how to make these.)
We have been fans of Chinet’s Cut Crystal line for some time. We created our Berry Trifle Cups in the stemless wine glasses. Perfect for small or large gatherings, you can trust Chinet’s Cut Crystal disposable tableware to be a high quality & premium product. We Love that clean up can be so easy. They are recyclable too!
The Sweets Table:
Crown sugar cookies are made using a crown cookie cutter, icing for trim & edible gold stars
The 3 piece Glass Jar Set, from Oriental Trading, was filled with Peter Pan trail mix & sweets treats. The larger glass jar which we already owned was filled with purple gummy teddy bears & the pretty lavender dessert plates, also from Oriental Trading, was a beautiful touch since the mother to be loves lavender.
The framed story book pictures were printed the images at a local photo center. They can even be printed on a home computer, but we wanted to give them a more finished, glossy look. The wood frames, simple & inexpensive, were purchased at a Dollar Store.
Additional Indoor Decor Touches:
Easy banner with a very personal touch hangs above the baby shower gifts table. Using clothespins to hang very special baby clothes & a couple story books. Carol saved the Christening gown & baby sweater & plans on giving them to her daughter when the baby is born.
Stacking a few childhood books is an easy, inexpensive way to decorate – these were found at a local thrift store. This is also a great way to start a book collection for the baby. We also asked each guest to bring their favorite childhood book in lieu of a card to build on the collection! NOTE: A FrugElegant Option to buying assorted books to use for the party decor is to borrow from them from the local library.
Additional Outdoor Decor Touches:
Love our Rubber Duck Decor for in & around the pool. A Giant Inflatable Rubber Duck with small baby shower rubber ducks. Oriental Trading has such large selection of baby shower supplies.
Remember our Spring Moss Covered Pots Post? We are reusing them with pretty summer plants.
