We are thrilled to be joining together with a fabulous group of bloggers 50+ for the #fiftyandfab Blog Hop!
Do you want to know who’s behind the scenes of your favorite blogs? Do you care to know who the blogger is, does it matter if the blogger is a man or woman, young or old (aka “more mature”)? There are some pros & cons to being a 50+ blogger. We find ourselves in a smaller percent at conferences, and struggle to learn the technology that that the younger bloggers have grew up learning. On a positive note, we have a lot to offer, like experience with design, holiday traditions & recipes. Plus, the next phase in our lives opens up so many new doors. Blogging about helping with weddings, bridal & baby showers, graduations, helping our adult children move & decorate new apartments & first homes. FrugElegance style of course!
FrugElegance is still a fairly young blog. We are coming up to our 3 year bloggerversary in January & it has been an incredible journey of learning. We had no idea how much work was involved and that wasn’t just about writing & posting a blog and poof, it goes viral overnight LOL! All we really knew was that we were close friends that wanted to share all about our frugelegant lifestyle. “Who doesn’t like to save money?” we thought. We already do so much together, so how difficult can be it to create a few blog posts? Of course reality set in and if we were to grow our blog we had to learn about it all. From working on the website, learning some basic code, SEO, photography, and wowzee, all the different social media. Our logic was to take it slow & steady and do the best we can. It might not be easy but if you want to put the work into it, you can do it. It took a while to get started but reached a level of success (for us!) with features from some of our favorite bloggers, included in some terrific articles and also working with some brands we love. We also started working & growing our staging & decorating business: FrugElegance by Design. It’s been quite a journey and we sure hope you will stay with us as we continue to grow. The best is yet to come!
What a great time to look back to a few of our favorite FrugElegant Fall Posts..
From Decorating with Pumpkins to our Super Easy “Give Thanks” Home Decor Post where Our Give Thanks Jar which has been pinned on Pinterest over 15k.
We don’t have a lot of recipes but the ones we do are easy super easy for our Homemade Fast Food meals or are our special Holiday Recipes like our Pumpkin Pie Minis & Easy Apple Crisp.
Quickly following Fall decor is Fabulous Holiday Decor and we LOVE Christmas & Hanukkah decorating. But of course…
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
Hope you will stay a bit and look around our Fall & Winter Decor. If you have a love for FrugElegance like we do, subscribe to never miss a post in the box on our sidebar. We also hope you will follow us on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram & all our other social media.

Oh ladies, do I hear you about the learning curve involved in blogging! Especially how we as “mature” bloggers who haven’t grown up in the technology age with social media have to step out of our comfort zones and learn the ropes. It’s so good to be part of a group of bloggers who get that and support one another as we learn and grow. You do beautiful work!
RandiG says
O yes Marie. Feels like it takes us twice as long to learn something that the younger generation learns a lot faster because it comes so naturally. But we keep trying & keep pushing through till we get it. Thank goodness for hair color hahahaha!

So glad you enjoy the blog hop Leanne. All the bloggers felt out of their comfort zone but knew it was a topic that was pretty near & dear to our hearts.

Blogging is lots of work that’s for sure. But I really love what I do and I’m blessed to be able to do it 🙂 Your dessert looks delicious!
RandiG says
Thank you so much for writing Anne! Please excuse our late response, there was an issue with a plugin that was causing our ability to respond to comments (and maybe receive).
Jenai says
I’m not quite 50 but very close and I can definitely relate to the challenges with technology. Just two years ago I would have described myself as technology savvy. I don’t know if it’s the age or the speed at which things are changing but if you step back for even a moment, wow! Congratulations on such a beautiful blog!
RandiG says
So agree! Its such a natural ability for the younger folks who is growing up with this. We are proud of what we have learned but it seems like a slow process to do it. LOL. Thank goodness for youtube videos with step by step instructions. Thanx for writing Jenai! (please excuse the delay in responded, we had a plugin with a glitch preventing us from being able to respond to any comments.)

It’s the tech part that gets me every time and my mother always taught me not to brag, yet sometimes it seems like social media is just one big brag-fest. LOL I don’t think it comes natural to our generation. Apple crisp is one of my all time favorites. Your desserts and fall projects are so fun!
Meegan says

The best is certainly yet to come. In my case I just brushed the cobwebs off my brain and have been getting it back up to speed since starting my blog. Beautiful projects for a beautiful blog.
FLORENCE says
Oh yes, definitely a learning curve in blogging. I’m only 6 mos old & have learned a lot. I was terribly overwhelmed in the beginning, but it has gotten easier. I love your Fall projects, and your recipes look scrumptious.
