Rustic & Elegance come together with this magnificent DIY Headboard with hanging Side Table.
Carol’s daughter asked for a rustic headboard her Christmas present. After a little shopping around, Randy (her dad) knew it was easy enough to make & would be a very special gift to make for her. And boy, did it come out beautiful.
A personalized note, special to Daddy’s little girl!
After measuring the size of the bed, in this case it is a double size headboard. Next lining up a few up cycled fence boards for the height, it was decided to use 5 boards. Next step, we cut 1/2 x 2″ wood to create a frame to support. And then the boards were cut to fit the width of the headboard and then screwed in together with the frame.
A clear satin sealer/stain by Minwax was brushed all over the headboard.
The same steps were used to create the hanging side table except on a much smaller scale. And the frame at the bottom of the shelf top was stained because it would be visible. Eye Screws were spray painted black & attached to each corner. (eye screws have those little circles so the rope can tie through it).
Securing a hook in the ceiling, (the kind with a circle end) to tie the rope & hang the table to the desired height.
What a before and after!
A few Frug-Elegant touches create the perfect space. We LOVE the Good Vibes Only Pillow!
The string lights draped across the headboard is a stunning & warm look.
Simple, Elegant & filled with warmth & love. The bedroom looks rustic & elegant & beautiful. It all came together without spending a lot either. Our kind of Frug-Elegance style!
A little update we would love to share with you… The beautiful geometric light fixture was recently added to complete the look.
We have since found that this light fixture is a pretty popular style & actually hard to come by unless willing to pay higher prices like on eBay. There are a wide variety of prices on Etsy but you can also find some inexpensive or more affordable options that have the similar “geometric” look are on some discount sites like Target, a variety of styles at Amazon & Wayfair (probably the biggest selection).

This is exactly what I want! how did you attach it to the bed frame?
RandiG says
Hi Jes, The bed frame is what holds the boards together (on the back) and then a chain is attached to hang onto the wall. We do have a pic of it.. will add it to the post asap. Thanx so much for writing!

Did you attach this pic? I don’t see it. My daughter would love this!
RandiG says
Hi Shirley, I am not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if we attached the headboard to the wall? If so, yes, it is hanging on the wall using a metal chain. 😉
