Have a piece of outdoor furniture that you love but its looking weathered and worn? We have an outdoor bench that’s looking pretty yucky. We really don’t want to spend the money to buy a new one, plus its got “good bones”. Meaning, it’s good on the inside but looking not so good from the outside. Remember, we only like DIY projects that are easy to do and budget friendly and this one is both! Check out how we gave new life to this old bench.
We love how spray paints have improved over the years. Our local home improvement stores have a wonderful selection of colors and finishes to choose from. And many come with the paint and primer together in one can. That saves the time of having to prime first. The most difficult part might be choosing the color!
Take a look at how we made our bench go from blah to wow in under 2 hours and for under $30.
Supplies Needed:
- Spray Paint for Outdoor Use (2-3 cans at $4.49 each)
- Disposable Face Mask for Painting
- Tarp or Old Blanket or Sheet to protect the ground surface from the spray paint
- Medium Sand Paper
- New Outdoor Throw Pillow (Optional)
First, we started with a light sanding to smooth out some of the bumps and blemishes. Next, we cleaned away the dust and then sprayed 2 coats of spray paint (follow manufacturer’s guidelines). After thoroughly dry, a new decorative pillow makes the new look complete.
Our bench looks so good now, what else can we spray paint? LOL, look around our DIY projects and see we have spray painted kitchen stools, pinecones, wine bottles and so much more….
