Only easy & simple recipes for me. The cooking gene definitely skipped me because my mom is an excellent cook & my brother is a chef!
This is one of my favorites & it came about last year because my daughter remembered late one night that she forgot she had to bring treats to share with her class the next day (love when that happens!!). What do I have in the pantry? I always keep a box of rice krispy treats & dark chocolate chips. We melted the chips & drizzled it all over the rice krispy treats.. they looked beautiful & were a huge hit with the kids.
This recipe is so easy to change up.. Make it more complicated -make your own rice krispy treats & decorate differently. Simplify more – dip in chocolate instead of drizzle it.
Of course, with Valentine’s Day TOMORROW, I didn’t plan in advance. So, I went to my staple pantry products & created these.
A note about melting chocolate- I do NOT buy the kind labeled melting chips. It costs so much more than a bag of regular chocolate chips. When melting the chips, put your choco chips in a microwave safe bowl & only heat on 50% power for short intervals. I usually set it for 45 seconds. Then stir. Then repeat the heating.. till its all melted & smooth.
After melted, I use a ziplock bag & twist the top so the chocolate doesn’t come out, then snip the smallest corner possible off (if you cut too much it comes out too fast, I like the drizzle to be thin). Refrigerate treats a few minutes till the chocolate is hardened.
For my VDay gifts for my family, I sprinkled some red sugar (this step has to be before chocolate hardens or it won’t stick). And wrapped them like this-
