These scented candles are a real bargain at $1! They just need a little personalizing. First, we would like to share with you the items needed and how to create these party favor candles. And then right after, we have a few recommendations for altering the project and some shortcut options. For example, if you think embossing is not for you, don’t be discouraged there are other options.
Items Needed:
- a 2.5inch Circle Punch Cutter to round the edges.
- Gold Embossing Powder
- Embossing Heat Tool
- Quickie Glue Pen
- light Pink Ribbon
- Hole Punch (small size hole for tags)
- light Pink Card Stock
- Wallet sized photo prints -ordered at our local Walgreens photo dept.
- Jar Candles -were purchased from our local Dollar Tree store. We do not see them available on their website but they do have mini mason jar candles or 3oz Apothecary Jar Candles which could work just as well.
To cut the baby pictures into circles, we used a circle punch cutter. A little rubber cement works great to attach the circular baby picture onto the plastic top that come with the candle.
For the tags, we cut the card stock into circles, again using the same circle punch cutter. The sentiment was added to the tags by using a glue pen, gold embossing powder and embossing heat tool (directions per the embossing tool). After making the hole, using the hole punch, the tags are ready to tie to the candle using the pretty pink ribbon. Beautiful!
Some options:
- *Dollar Tree has a variety of candles to choose from. They also have adorable mini mason jar candles which have metal lids also great for attaching a picture.
- Another option is to tie the pictures to the jars instead. We do recommend, glueing them to the card stock to help keep the pictures from bending.
- If you don’t want to emboss the tags, there are some amazing, easy to use, paint pens to choose from.
- Don’t have a circle cutter? Scissors will do the trick. To get your circle shape, there are some awesome circle stencils to use for outlining. Or for free, there are lots of circular items around the house, like jar lids, baby food jars, etc.
It’s so satisfying to be able to create a beautiful personalized party favor to share with all our guests (and also keeps us within our budget).
