Following our New Year’s Resolution to eat healthier, this seemed like the perfect time to share with you one of our favorite desserts…
Arctic Zero has been a favorite of ours for over a year so we decided to write the company to share with them how much we enjoy their products. A great big Thanx! to Arctic Zero for sending us a Goodie Box! And supplying the VIP vouchers for our Giveaway. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post! Our opinions are always our own.
Have you heard of Arctic Zero? We first heard about Arctic Zero from a weight watcher leader. It’s is a light alternative to ice cream. They call it a “Fit Frozen Dessert” & some flavors are: Lactose Free, Gluten Free, GMO Free & Low Glycemic. No artificial sweeteners either!! One pint is 4 servings and our favorite flavors are 150 calories for the whole pint! The thing to know about Arctic Zero is that it is frozen solid. Unlike ice cream that is soft & ready to scoop out, Arctic Zero is hard as a rock. The trick is: leave the container on the counter for about 10-15 minutes to soften. Our favorite flavors are Chocolate Peanut Butter, Toasted Coconut & from the “chunky pints” Cool Mint Chip.
We like to add some toppings to make a sundae! Sure, this adds some more calories but if you add a few small items your dessert is more hearty & satisfying. Some of our favorite toppings can be: a drizzle of Hershey’s Light syrup, a few mini marshmallows, a sprinkle some chopped walnuts (or pecans), fresh fruit, 2 broken up graham crackers or fiber one chocolate brownie and fat free whipped topping. You don’t have to add a lot & it adds so texture & flavor. Our favorite sundae: Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter with either the crumbled graham cracker or half a crumbled fiber one brownie topped with a small drizzle of lite chocolate syrup & whipped topping. With all the toppings it isn’t quite as low as if you ate it plain, but this sundae is still much lower than regular or even light ice cream.
Here’s the breakdown one of our favorite sundaes:
•1/2 pint 70 calories •1/2 crumbled fiber one brownie 45 calories •a drizzle of Hershey Lite Chocolate Syrup 20 calories & Fat Free Whipped Topping 10 calories = 145 calories!! Compare to 1/2 cup ..gee thats small…of Moosetracks light ice cream for 140 calories) Might even feel like splurging with a sprinkle of chopped walnuts! Either way, Arctic Zero Sundaes are filling & satisfying.
