We wanted to add some spring beauty to our table with Moss Covered Pots but the selection out there has been either too expensive or poor quality. Perfect time for a DIY Frug-Elegant challenge & we think we hit a home run!
Have you taken notice to how popular moss covered decor is right now? The stores are all carrying it. From high end to discount stores, this spring, moss covered decor is hot hot hot. Do an online search for “Spring Decor Moss Covered” and see the page full of moss covered bunnies, baskets, eggs, birds, letters, wreaths & so much more. Funny thing is, you don’t have to be “crafty”! This is so simple & easy & saves so much money to do it yourself (DIY).
Starting with some plain 4″ clay pots & a roll of artificial moss. We got our Moss at our local Michael’s Craft Store but they do not carry this product online. Amazon has a nice selection available.
Next, we cut a strip of moss, from the roll, that will fit the height of the ceramic pot. Glue one side to hold in place & wrap around pot. Cut excess moss & glue/attach moss around top rim of pot..
Because our ceramic pot has a lip at the top, we need to cut some of the moss so the moss will lay smoothly onto the pots form. If the cuts weren’t made, you can get buckling spots.
Another little tidbit to consider when glueing the edges- the moss has some areas that can stretch slightly, so we like to make our edges uneven in areas around the edges of the pot. Perfectly imperfect. Some ceramic showing looks like the moss is growing onto the pot.
Time to fill with soil & a small pretty spring plant.
A beautiful Spring table display using our moss rocks & a burlap table runner.
Beautiful for Outdoor Spring Decor
Or anywhere around the house decor.
Have you seen our moss covered initial used on our Spring Door Basket & Spring Door Wreath?

Hi Carol and Randi,
