So glad to share our elegant & easy to make dessert for the Holiday Cocktail Party Blog Hop! Over 40 bloggers sharing outrageous sweets, cocktails, appetizers- to make your holiday party perfect!

Here is our Cannoli – Mascarpone Cream Filling Recipe:

  • 3/4 cup whole milk ricotta cheese (excess liquid needs to be drained. You can either drain overnight using a cheesecloth or drain with a coffee filter in a colander & push down with a spoon for quicker draining)
  • 3/4 cup mascarpone cheese (we bought this in Trader Joe’s)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla (or Grand Marnier Liquor – we added a little of both)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  1. Using a mixer, start on slow until all ingredients are combined.
  2. Then whip for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Fill ziploc bag & using a tip or not, cut off the corner of the bag & squeeze to fill the chocolate cups.
  4. Garnish with sprinkles, mini chocolate chips or shaved chocolate pieces- We used gold sprinkles for a festive look.
  5. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Optional fillings- In the picture we used whipped chocolate mousse & silver sprinkles.

These chocolate cups are at many local retailers & Amazon has a huge selection of styles & varieties including the tuxedo, cordial, flowers & so much more.

Hi there, Can you tell me how many cups your cannoli recipe will fill? I’m using the same dark chocolate ones you feature. Also, how far in advance can this be made? I am using these for a swanky Oscar Party, they look gorgeous!!!

Hi Susan, We filled about 2 boxes but not totally sure since we filled larger chocolate cups (the tuxedo cups) with the same batch. The cannoli cream can be made & refrigerated the day before & the cups filled & refrigerated the morning of your party. We would love to see how they come out! Fantastic idea to serve for an Oscar Party 😉

Is it really 3/4 cup whole milk marscapone cheese AND 3/4 cup marscapone cheese? Should that second ingredient really be heavy cream perhaps??

Hi Nancy, The first ingredient is whole milk ricotta cheese and the 2nd is the marscapone cheese. Hope you give the recipe a try. Thanks for reaching out!
