Signs on clearance at our local craft store were perfect for us to remake & use for the wedding reception entrance.
A little sanding before we painted them with chalkboard paint.
Then we printed the word on a sheet of paper. Turned the paper over & rubbed chalk on the backside. We placed the paper chalk side down on the sign & traced over the word with a marker. As you can see it left us with a perfect pattern to use our chalk marker to easily write the words. The wood on the arrows had ridges, so writing was done carefully. The flat wood, on the pumpkin shaped signs, were a bit easier.
Same process with the pumpkin signs– they were painted orange so we sanded & stained with minwax gel stain using a rag. Let dry & using the same print as our saying, rubbing the backside of the paper with chalk, transferring the words by writing on them. Then you can choose any color paint pen to write, we used a chalk one to keep our signs consistent.
Made the job so easy! Saved a lot of $$ & looks fabulously (frug) Elegant!
